Hotel Carter, Regency Inn on 10 dirtiest U.S. hotels list

99dollarsaday.jpg

Update: The Carter wins again in 2009!

The 700-room Hotel Carter on 43rd Street this year tops TripAdvisor's list of the 10 dirtiest hotels in America -- no surprise there.

More interesting is that Regency Hospitality hotel group (not ever to be confused with Hyatt Regency or Loews Regency, though there's a good bet that's what their guests do when booking,) got one of its NYC properties off the list, but replaced it with another. The Regency Inn & Suites on 34th Street is ranked No. 5 on this year's dirty list. Last year, Regency Hospitality's New York Inn ranked No. 6.

If you're paying $99 for a room in Midtown and you don't bother to run its name through a search engine to see why it's so cheap, you may have to mail your rocket science degree back to that special college.

Also of note, Ramada Niagara Falls ranks as No. 2 on the dirty list, but if you head to TripAdvisor's page for that hotel, at the very, very bottom, you'll find: "Currently closed for renovations."
