Big Takashi Murakami show coming to Brooklyn in April

Tan Tan Bo online.jpgLater this year, the Brooklyn Museum will host a major retrospective of pop-inspired artist Takashi Murakami.

The exhibition, called, © MURAKAMI will open at the Brooklyn Museum on April 5 and run through July 13. Called the most comprehensive retrospective of his work to date, the exhibition includes more than 90 works in various media.

It was originally assembled by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, where it's currently on view. Brooklyn will be its only other U.S. venue before traveling to the Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Murakami's company, Kaikai Kiki, takes its name from the Japanese words for "bizarre" and "elegant." It's based in Tokyo, Saitama, and New York.
