Transit Museum adds tours of repair yards, old City Hall

The New York City Transit Museum has sent out its preview list of special tours on offer this winter - and once again there are only a couple days that the original City Hall subway station will be open for public access.
"The Jewel in the Crown: Old City Hall Station" tours are set for January 20 and March 15. The city's original subway station, located under City Hall, has been closed to the public for decades and is only used by the 6 train to loop from the end of the downtown track to the start of the uptown route.
Other highlights from the winter schedule include an evening tour of the Coney Island subway overhaul and repair yard (January 29;) behind-the-scenes access to a 1904 subway power station in Manhattan (February 2;) and the new Grand Avenue bus depot and central maintenance shop in Maspeth (April 13.)
Most tours require reservations and cost about $20, though the abandoned City Hall station tour also requires transit museum membership.
