'Young Frank' exempt from strike, starts previews
If there's a strike or lockout on Broadway, "Young Frankenstein" will not go dark. That's the official word from the Hilton Theater box office, where the new Mel Brooks' musical will begin previews this evening.
Tonight's show is sold out (though there was a scalper this afternoon near the jam-packed TKTS booths who had a dozen seats he was trying to sell for $10 below face value.)
Starting October 22, the front-row "Young Frankenstein" ticket lottery will resume for all shows (except Saturday nights.) At three hours before curtain, lottery names will be accepted for 45 minutes. At two hours before curtain, names will be drawn and those winners will be able to buy a pair of front row seats for $26.50 each.
But if you have more money to spend, head to "Young Frankenstein" on a Thursday or Friday night and shell out an extra $50 per person to get access to the Hilton Conrad VIP Lounge where there's a full open bar and "private restroom."
