OHNY confirms: inside Gramercy, outside smallpox

ohny2007logo.jpgWe've got some good news and bad news about the upcoming Open House New York.

First the bad. OHNY is now confirming what the skeptical Roosevelt Island 360 first reported -- that there will be no access into the abandoned smallpox hospital.

The OHNY details as of today: "There are two programs in Roosevelt Island's Southpoint Park - TheEncampment and Southpoint: From Ruin to Rejuvenation. Neither will go into the Smallpox Hospital."

But the good news: "The Gramercy Park Tour will focus on the Gramercy Park neighborhood. The tour will end with participants going into the park in small groups. We had originally decided not to publicize this, although the description for the commemorative ticket tour says "in and around Gramercy Park".

And another detail of note, September 28 is not merely the date the full listing of events is made public, but that's also the same day that you'll be able to start making reservations for those tours that only have a limited number of spaces available.
