'Young Frankenstein' in pre-sale with $120/orchestra
Tickets to Mel Brooks' new Broadway musical, "Young Frankenstein," won't go on sale to the general public until July 28, but American Express cardholders can already purchase through the pre-sale promotion.
Prices are indeed slightly higher than what's become normal on Broadway.
The top regular-priced orchestra seat, and even mezzanine (here called "dress circle") will go for $121.50. ($120 plus $1.50 theater restoration fee.) "Premium" seats are priced at $276.50 and the "premiere" ones at $351.50. The cheapest regular seat, in the back of the balcony, will go for $51.50.
Group tickets are already on sale, if you're buying 15 or more.
Based on Brooks' 1974 movie of the same name, the Broadway version will feature Roger Bart as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein; Sutton Foster as lab assistant Inga, Shuler Hensley as the Monster, Megan Mullally as Elizabeth, and Christopher Fitzgerald as Igor. Andrea Martin will play Frau Blücher, the role originated by Cloris Leachman in the movie. (See SaveFrauBlucher.com.)
"Young Frankenstein" will play the Hilton Theatre, located at 213 W. 42nd St., map. The box office opens September 10. Previews begin October 11, and opening night is scheduled for November 8.
