Plaza hotel reservations starting Jan. 1, 2008?

plaza.reservations.jpg

The Plaza will celebrate its centennial on October 1, but will the renovations be complete by then to allow hotel guests back in?

Although the new web page for the hotel says reservations are being accepted for this fall, the reservation operator had another story when NewYorkology called to confirm.

"We're not," the reservation agent said. "There is no availability until January 1."
Asked if the hotel was going to open in October, she said: "It was, but it's not going to now."

Elad Properties, the company that bought the hotel and is shelling out $350 million to renovate and turn it into a condo/hotel, did not reply to NewYorkology's request for confirmation of the delayed opening for the hotel.
