MTA pushes plan to raise transit fares by 6.5 percent

metrocardbus.jpgThe MTA board today voted to move ahead with a plan to raise transit fares by 6.5 percent, but it's unclear whether it will change the current $2 subway/bus fare or weekly/monthly passes, according to NY1.

"It seems all but certain now that fares and tolls will go up in some form early next year," NY1 is reporting. However, today's vote just gives the OK for public hearings on the matter.
