'Agreement' reached on NYC congestion pricing
Congestion pricing may yet come to Manhattan.
New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has just announced there is bi-partisan support in the state capitol to form a 17-member committee that would develop a plan to possibly let New York City charge $8 from drivers who enter Manhattan south of 86th Street at the busiest times of the day.
State legislators are hopeful that by getting their proposal to Washington D.C. by today, they'll have a shot at $500 million of federal transportation funds.
Details are appearing on the New York Times CityRoom blog.
