Tribeca Drive-In at Rockefeller Center, now up high
Rockefeller Center is bringing back its four-night free drive-in movie nights later this month, but adding a short film showcase on the top of Rockefeller Center.
The Tribeca Drive-In Short Film Series at Top of the Rock, (sponsored by Nintendo World,) will screen four films in the 67th-floor Weather Room.
The ground-level Tribeca Drive-In at Rockefeller Center will show four independent films on a 30-foot by 50-foor screen in front of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Some audience members will get to watch the films from inside new Dodge Cars parked around the plaza.
The schedule:
Tuesday, June 19 - "Watching the Detectives" directed and written by Paul Soter; and the the short film, "Super Powers," winner of the Tribeca Film Festival Special Jury Prize for Best Narrative Short.
Wednesday, June 20 - "Arctic Tale" directed by Adam Ravetch and Sarah Robertson.
Thursday, June 21 - "MO" directed and written by Brian Scott Lederman.
Friday, June 22 - "Netherbeast Incorporated" directed by Dean Ronalds and written by
Bruce Dellis.
While the movies at ground level are free, you'll need to pay the Top of the Rock admission ($17.50 for adults,) to see the films up in the sky. The shorts: "For All the Marbles," directed by Kris Booth and written by Brian Hartigan; "Heart of Whistler," directed by Ken Hegan and written by John Meadows and Hegan; "Piece by Piece," directed by Sachi Schuricht; and "Sand Dancer," directed by Valerie Reid. They'll run in a continuous loop from 8:30 a.m. to midnight.
