Subway fare could rise to $3 by 2010, study warns

subway.timessquare.JPGSubway and bus fare could rise to $3 from $2 by 2010 if the Metropolitan Transportation Authority can't find new revenue sources is the warning contained in a report issued Tuesday by the Independent Budget Office.

The fare for an unlimited one-week MetroCard would also need to rise to $36 from $24,according to the report, which was commissioned by the Straphangers Campaign.
