Dorothy Parker's death marked with free gin, readings
On Monday evening, the Dorothy Parker Society will mark the 40th anniversary of the witty New Yorker's death in grand fashion - with free gin and readings of her works by Broadway actresses in a sufficiently revolutionary bookstore.
Tony winner Tonya Pinkins, who's currently on Broadway in "Radio Golf," and Xanthe Elbrick, who is up for a Tony for her role in the just-closed "Coram Boy," will handle the reading. Plymouth Gin will supply the booze. And Marion Meade will give a brief talk on the 20th anniverssary edition of her Parker bio "What Fresh Hell Is This?"
The event will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Revolution Books, 9 W. 19th St., map.
Another Round Table walking tour is set for this Saturday. It's free to anyone wearing their Book Expo America badge. In fall, the Society holds its annual Parkerfest.
