Construction parking pinch at Yankee, Shea stadiums

yankees.subway.JPGTake the subway to the subway series.

That's the message from the MTA and the NY Yankees, who tonight start playing host to the Mets for a series of games through the weekend.

As both teams have massive new stadiums under construction, they've both lost a significant amount of street access and parking lots for the current season and getting to the ballpark has been as nightmarish as the losing streaks both teams have wallowed in (at separate times) this season.

The Yankees website has a 2007 guide on taking public transit to the stadium, which includes options for bus, subway and NY Waterway's Yankee Clipper ferry.

Parking's just as bad at Shea Stadium and the Mets have their own online guide for public transit, which includes options for subway, bus, Long Island Rail Road, the New York Water Taxi Mets Express and the Seastreak ferry from New Jersey.
