Chumley's - now even more confusing for tourists

chumleysjune7.JPG

The forecast from the lawnchair outside Chumley's isn't good.

As the historic bar remains boarded up after an April construction collapse, there is nothing to explain to the unending streams of tourists why it's now even harder to find the entrance to the unmarked former speakeasy.

Nothing except a neighbor in a lawn chair (who asked that his name not be added to the Internet,) who predicted it could be a year and a half before the building reopens. The workers have been busy in the old building, which dates to 1830, but he said has little faith in the landlord, who also owns his building.

Chumley's is located at 86 Bedford St., map.
