Brooklyn's Hotel Le Bleu aiming for July 9 opening

So much for cheap new hotels in Brooklyn.

lebleu.march2007.JPGThe almost-open Hotel Le Bleu has launched its website, touting room rates from $280 as of July 9. Jump ahead to September and you're looking at $354.

At the nearby Holiday Inn Express, Brooklyn, you can get a room for that same night for no less than $243.

As Curbed points out, Hotel Le Bleu touts its "breathtaking design that oozes sophistication." Curbed rightfully asks:

Did anyone tell them that the word "ooze," in any shape or form, shouldn't be used in the context of something a couple of blocks from the Gowanus? That's a taxi depot to the left and outpatient dialysis facility to the right.
The 48-room boutique hotel will get its own restaurant, the Vue, on the eighth and ninth floors. The rooms have wi-fi, 42-inch plasma TVs, goose-down comforters and pillows, and iPod Alarm Docking Stations, but room service only operates 18 hours a day. The hotel is located at 370 Fourth Ave., map.
