Expect very long waits at airport customs this summer
If you've ever spent a lot of time trying to estimate how much time to allow to get into Manhattan after your flight lands at JFK, you may want to reach for the calculator.
Passing through customs at JFK could take as long as two and a half hours last summer, William DeCota, the aviation director at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, told USA Today.
Oh but wait. That's last year. USA Today has the 2007 forecast: A shortage of U.S. Customs agents is leading to longer waits for arriving passengers at some gateway airports, and the problem promises to worsen with the expected summer travel rush.
