Chinatown-bound bus crashes; 2 dead, 32 hurt
Another low-fare long-haul Chinatown bus was involved in a serious crash over the weekend, this time killing two people and injuring 32 when the Chicago-to-New York bus flipped over on a rainy interstate in Pennsylvania, according to the New York Times.
The bus, operated by OK Travel Bus Inc., received “satisfactory” rating from federal inspectors on May 2 and no crashes at all are on its record for the past two years, the Times reports.
In September, 34 passengers were hurt when a speeding Fung Wah Bus flipped over during its New York-to-Boston trip. The notoriously white-knuckle Chinatown buses are generally low on comfort but incredibly cheap ways to get between major East Coast cities. Many can be booked through GotoBus.com.
