TopShop comes to US via Barneys, scouts NY store

katemoss.topshop.JPGBarneys New York will be the exclusive U.S. seller for the new Kate Moss line of clothes from British fashion retailer TopShop.

The line debuts in London on May 1 and in Barneys on May 9.

When the Kate Moss togs arrive here, TopShop officials will again start scouting locations to open a TopShop in NYC, TopShop owner Sir Philip Green told BBC radio this morning.

This is at least the second time TopShop has explored the New York market for retail space. In June, the New York Times reported that TopShop was looking for real estate, a plan that was later abandoned.

But Barney's, according to a recent report in the Sun, is also looking for more NYC locations, including 401 W. 14th St. at Ninth Avenue.
