Old City Hall to host transit tours, historic cars return
This spring and summer, you'll be able to get into one of the city's long-abandoned subway stations, ride retired subway cars and wander through a turn-of-the century substation. They're all on the new tour schedule for the New York Transit Museum.
Tours of the Old City Hall subway station will be held May 12 and June 16, but only for members of the Transit Museum ($40 per person.) The tour is $20 for adults and $10 for children.
On August 5, subway historian Joe Cunningham will lead a tour of the Brighton and Franklin lines, including a visit to the Prospect Park substation. On May 19, there's a tour of the Corona maintenance facility. And on September 8, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the opening of the IND line, vintage R 1/9 trains will hit the regular rails of the A train route.
Reservations are now open for museum members, and the general public can start reserving spots as of April 20. Call (718) 694-1867.
When the full list of tours is published, you'll find it here.
