MTA says it's OK to stay on 6 thru Old City Hall station

It's getting a whole lot easier to catch a glimpse of one of the city's abandoned subway stations -- the century-old crown jewel under City Hall, NY1 reports.
Since 1945, the only way to see it was to sneakily stay on board the 6 train after its last stop at the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall Station while it looped through the Old City Hall Station on its path to the first uptown stop back at the Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall Station.
But according to NY1, the MTA confirms it's now OK to stay on the train through the loop, and the announcements on the train will soon make that clear. From NY1:Where they once said, "this is the last stop on this train, everyone please leave the train," they are being reprogrammed to say, "this is the last downtown stop on this train," and "the next stop on this train will be Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall on the uptown platform." But to actually set foot in the station, you need to sign up for one of the infrequent tours operated by the Transit Museum. But it's worth the wait, as the tours allow you up into Guastavino-tiled anteroom where tickets were once sold. Opened in 1904, it is still filled with chandeliers, leaded skylights, the original tiles in greens and cremes and other Heins & LaFarge designwork.
