Stoppard's 'Rock 'n' Roll' coming to Broadway in fall
"Rock 'n' Roll," Tom Stoppard's newest play, will transfer to Broadway in the fall after its award-winning run in London, according to Variety.
The drama -- set alternately in Prague, Czechoslovakia and Cambridge, England from 1968 through the fall of Communism -- deals with the trade-offs made to protect ideas complex and as simple as the abilitty to play your rock 'n' roll records. It's dedicated to dramatist and former Czech president Vaclav Havel, who attended the London premier along with Mick Jagger. They're both referenced in the play itself, along with the likes of Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett, the Beach Boys and the Mothers of Invention.
No dates, theater or cast has been announced for New York.
