Seats on the stage with Dennehy, Plummer for $36.25
When Brian Dennehy and Christopher Plummer take to Broadway this spring for a 16-week run of the courtroom drama "Inherit the Wind," they'll be sharing the stage with 44 members of the audience.
The cheap seats, $36.25, will actually be on the stage facing the orchestra section, positioned so they appear to be the spectators at the infamous Scopes "monkey trial," according to Playbill.
The play fictionalizes the real 1925 trial of Tennessee science teacher John Scopes who was convicted of teaching his students the theory of evolution.
Previews for the play start March 19 with opening night scheduled for April 12. It will close July 8.
Regular tickets -- priced from $26.25 to $96.25 -- are already on sale at the Lyceum Theatre box office, located at 149 W. 45th St., map. The on-stage tickets go on sale to the general public starting March 4, Playbill reports.
The rock musical "Spring Awakening" has been using the same on-stage strategy since it opened on Broadway last year.
