Fake hotels and the unhappy tenants of NYC

With average hotel rates hovering around the $300 mark for New York City, there has been an increase in illegal hotel rooms. One tenant-advocacy group has put together a list of 94 suspected illegal hotels, according to The Villager.

Earlier this month, city and state officials proposed legislation to crack down on landlords who illegally turn apartment buildings into hotels. One frequent target of the accusations has been a company called WooGoo.
