Open House New York 2007 set for October 6 and 7

Save the date: Open House New York 2007 is set for October 6 and 7.
OHNY has turned into one of the best weekends of the year for New York, as nearly 200 normally restricted spaces open their doors free for the average joe to have a look inside.
Last year's highlights included a private Rockefeller Center roof garden, the abandonded hospital on Ellis Island, parts of the United Nations not on the public tour, the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the rebuilt World Trade Center 7 building.
For eye candy, see the winners of the 2006 Focus on Architecture photography competition.
In addition to the big free weekend, OHNY last year began adding a few events throughout the year to help cover costs. The first ones for 2007 will take place sometime in March -- one in the Prince George Ballroom, called "Quality Design in Transitional Housing," and a family walking tour and scavenger hunt called “From Working Seaport to Living City."
