Night in the Museum sleepovers almost sold out

anightatthemuseum.amnh.JPGWith a boost from the success of the "Night in the Museum" movie, the American Museum of Natural History's real-life sleepovers are all but sold out through the summer.

The museum sleepovers (which NewYorkology first flagged for readers in September,) are completely booked save for the night of April 28, which is for groups of girls only.

Kids taking part in the $79 overnight program get to roam the halls by flashlight and sleep (if they can,) under the giant blue whale.

Come mid-August, the natural history museum will announce new sleepover dates for fall.

They're not the only game in town when it comes to sleepovers. The Bronx Zoo sleepovers start at $4,500 for a group of up to 15 children, ages 8 to 12 only. The Central Park Zoo will also arrange Snooze at the Zoo events for families. During the past two summers, Backpacker magazine and the NYC Parks Department have sponsored a Night Under the Stars campout in several city parks. And on the very high-end side, the FAO Schwarz sleepover starts in the $25,000 range for an overnight toy store birthday party.
