NewYorkology spent a chunk of the afternoon in Brooklyn Navy Yard's Dry Dock No. 1 checking on the progress of the Mary A. Whalen, the retired fuel tanker undergoing repairs so she can house PortSide NewYork's maritime museum.

Carolina Salguero, the founder and director of the non-profit PortSide NY, has been blogging the repair job at PortSide Tanker.

NewYorkology will have a full report tomorrow, with references to the Monitor, a Civil War prison, the changing waterfront and Russell Crowe.
