'Grease' on Broadway sells $1.3 mln in two days
Boosted by the premier of "You're the One That I Want" reality TV show, "Grease" on Broadway sold $1.3 million of tickets in the first two days the ducats were available to the public, according to Playbill.
While impressive, it pales in comparison to the $4 million "Three Days of Rain" sold in three days last year with Julia Roberts making her Broadway debut, the Daily News notes.
"You're the One That I Want" chronicles the search to cast a Danny and Sandy for this summer's Broadway production. The castoffs will be eliminated "American idol"-style through the season until the final live episode when viewers will make the final casting selections.
About 11.6 million people watched the show on Sunday night.
A theater hasn't yet been selected for the run, though the Brooks Atkinson Theatre has been mentioned as a possibility. Ticketmaster is selling tickets for July 24 through December 16 from $71.50 to $111.50, and $201.50 for premium seats. Opening night is set for August 16, according to the show's website.
