Fast, $100 security line opens at JFK's Terminal 7
The new fast security line debuts today at JFK's British Airways terminal for passengers willing to pay a $100 annual fee and submit to a background check conducted by the Transportation Security Administration.
Participants get "smart cards" with their vital statistics, including fingerprints and iris scans. The 3-second security check will include a pass through a bomb-sniffing security device.
The Clear Card program rolls out at Kennedy Airport's terminal 7 today and in February will open in Terminal 1, including Air France, according to Verified Identity Pass, the private company running the program with the TSA's approval.
Another program has been in use at the Orlando International Airport since last summer, according to the Daily News. The company VIP, is run by Steven Brill, the founder of Court TV and defunct media ethics magazine Brill's Content.
About 35,000 people have already signed up for the program, according to the Post. You can apply for enrollment online.
