Public invited to Apollo to say goodbye to James Brown

The body of James Brown will return to Harlem's historic Apollo Theater on Thursday for a public viewing from 1 to 8 p.m., according to the Associated Press.

The Godfather of Soul's first big national fame came with the 1962 album "Live at the Apollo." Brown, 73, died Monday of congestive heart failure in Atlanta. He was scheduled to play B.B. King's Blues Club & Grill just off Times Square on New Year's Eve.

The Apollo Theater is located at 253 West 125th St., map.
