Intrepid may be pulled from the mud Tuesday morning

The USS Intrepid will be hooked up to tugboats Tuesday morning between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. in hopes of pulling the decommissioned aircraft carrier free from the Hudson River mud.

If the tugs can pull the ship free, there are again big plans for the rest of the day, according to the museum's website:

The Intrepid will unfurl its gigantic American flag between 10:00 and 10:30 AM as it passes historic Ground Zero shore point as a silent tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.. It should pass the Statue of Liberty between 11:00 and 11:30 AM and arrive in Bayonne between 2:30 and 3:00 PM. McAllister Towing will again provide towing services for the move, at no additional cost to the Intrepid.
