Wellington Hotel, you like? Very nice! King of castle
Wellington Hotel, the New York City homebase for Borat in his new movie, is declared to be "very nice" by the fake Kazakhstan journalist. But is it?
In "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" the Wellington Hotel does right by the bumbling star (played by the British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.) Mind you this is not, not, not the hotel in the movie that serves as the setting for the most disgusting, brain-burning wrestling match ever filmed for a major motion picture.
Upon arriving at the Wellington, Borat is told his room rate is $117.13 a night.
"We'll call it $85," Borat says, his haggle getting shot down.
Have a click over to the Wellington's website and just see if you can book a room near that rate. A call to the hotel's reservation line this morning revealed the lowest rate available for next week is $319.
What's that get you? Access to the hotel's 24-hour business center, cable TV, and a microwave and refrigerator if you book a suite. High speed wi-fi costs an extra $9.99 a day unless you book online.
And what do recent guest have to say about Borat's New York hotel?
It looks like a love-it or hate-it situation at TripAdvisor.com:
"GROSS and over-priced"
"Great location & very nice staff"
"Motel 6 Quality at Waldorf Prices"
"Great location -keep the curtains closed"
Book now to get the Wellington's Thanksgiving special: three nights for up to four people in a one-bedroom suite with full American breakfast. Only $1,199. Very nice!
The Wellington Hotel is located at 871 Seventh Ave. at 55th Street, map.
