Stuck-in-traffic taxi rates rise Nov. 30; and $45 to JFK

The taxi fare increase will take effect a little sooner than expected, NY1 is reporting this morning.

Starting November 30, the stuck-in-traffic rate will rise to 40 cents a minute from the current 20 cents and it will kick in when the cab is moving slower than 12 miles per hour as opposed to the current 6 mph.

Also, a taxi trip to JFK Airport will cost a flat $45 from Manhattan. Currently that rate has only been good from the airport to Manhattan. Taxi rides from LaGuardia Airport will still be metered.
