Palm shop to open at Rockefeller Center

palmstore.rockcenter.jpg

Palm, the once (and still?) cool maker of smartphones and handhelds, will open its first Manhattan retail store later this month at Rockefeller Center, just across the street from Radio City Music Hall.

No precise opening date has been announced, but a Rockefeller Center newsletter is promoting an in-store deal that starts November 20.

If you buy a Palm Treo680 smartphone from the new shop, you'll get a free Mobile Music Pack while supplies last. Now in four colors, because that will surely keep the phone from crashing and losing all your data.

The new Palm will be located at 74 W. 50th St., near 6th Avenue, map. The next closest Palm shops are at LaGuardia, JFK and Newark airports.

Update: As of November 21, the store remains unopened.

Update II: The store's open, but the 680 will arrive a few days later.
