Intrepid hopes to escape mud and sail away Nov. 6

Will she or won't she?
On Monday morning, working with the highest tide of the year, a team of tugboats hopes to pull the USS Intrepid retired aircraft carrier free from the mud where she's been sitting since 1982.
The dredging process definitely worked, officials with the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum told the Daily News. Well, maybe, the tugboat company told the Daily News.
If the ship is able to leave Pier 86 on Monday morning, it will head to Bayonne, N.J. for renovations while its Manhattan pier is overhauled. If all goes as planned, the Intrepid will return in fall 2008.
NewYorkology's latest Intrepid pictures were taken Monday afternoon. More pictures after the jump.
