Free Water Taxi rides to Dumbo with e-mail coupon

The New York Water Taxi normally scales back service during the colder months, but this year the Brooklyn dock at Fulton Ferry is reopening for East River commuter service starting today. To promote the service, tickets (normally $5 one way for one stop,) are only $2 each way between Fulton Ferry and Wall Street's Pier 11. Even better, you can get a coupon by e-mail for two free rides at the Water Taxi's website good through this Friday.
The weekday commuter service makes one trip per hour from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., takes a break, and then resumes hourly service between 4 and 8 p.m. The Fulton Ferry stop is located just south of the Brooklyn Bridge between Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo, map. It's very close to the River Cafe, Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and Barge Music.
The site is famous not only as the dock for Robert Fulton’s steam-propelled ferry, but was the spot in 1776 where General George Washington's men retreated across the East River after losing the Battle of Brooklyn.
The Water Taxi has indoor and outdoor seating, closed-caption 42-inch plasma TVs, and coming soon, wireless internet.
