Open House New York cheat sheet

Since this weekend's Open House New York website is a little mucky this year, here’s a list of direct links to the content you’ll most want.

Most important, start with these: (Even if you have a printed map, it won't have these two important sections.)
Updates for sites
Updates for tours/programs

Then check by borough to see/print the longer lists:
Manhattan sites
Queens sites
Brooklyn sites
Bronx sites
Staten Island sites

Inexplicably, the "programs" have their own section on the website, although to the passive reader, it's hard to tell the difference between programs/tours/sites.
Programs/tours - all boroughs

Some events are just one day, some only for a few hours. You can view sites by day:
Saturday sites
Sunday sites

Extras:
Podcasts
Kid-friendly sites
Kid-friendly tours/workshops

Plus: Weekend subway interruptions

You may want to print out your top picks now as the OHNY site is already proving sluggish and the event doesn't begin until Saturday.

As for top site suggestions ... hard to say because some of the most popular sites are sure to draw very long lines this year as the weather promises to be better than last. Almost all of the reservations-required tours have booked up, including the Ellis Island hospital grounds. However, most sites don't require reservations.

A few picks: the Rockefeller Center private roof garden on Sunday, the top of the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch at Grand Army Plaza all weekend, the Little Red Lighthouse on Saturday, the Gothic-inspired Washington Irving High School both days, eight private mausoleums at Woodlawn Cemetery all weekend and Saturday's art exhibit on the 45th floor of new 7 World Trade Center building. The Saturday-only underground tours of Astoria's grand Art Deco pool are limited to 90 people only, so plan ahead if that's on your list.

As always, all Open House New York weekend events are free.

(If you attend OHNY events, especially on Saturday, please use the comment section here if you have news about spots that had especially long lines, snafus or surprise sights worth the effort. Thanks.)
