Certified, graffitied CBGB chairs on sale 'as is' at ebay
CBGB is officially for sale. Well, its chairs are anyway. And with certificates of authenticity. Because you wouldn't want to buy a fake CBGB chair, would you? Not very punk rock.
Eighteen lots are currently up for auction on CBGB's ebay page, with prices running about $20 for a set of chairs. The auction ends later today and you must pick up your chairs from the club by Halloween night.
The ebay description:
Here is your chance to own a piece of rock n'roll history. You are bidding on a lot of two chairs from legendary rock club CBGB which has been located at 313 Bowery in New York since 1973. The club has lost its lease and is being forced to close. These chairs are from the club’s main room. They have been banged up, graffitied and covered with stickers. These chairs have barely survived the multitude of punk rock shows and historic final concerts. These are being sold for memorabilia "as is". Each lot will come with a certificate of authenticity signed by the club’s owner Hilly Kristal. ... Earlier: Inside CBGB during the final week on the Bowery
