Travel + Leisure: NYC hotels not even in Top 30

carlton.waterfall.jpgTravel + Leisure readers apparently aren't very smitten with New York City hotels lately, as the annual survey of the 100 best U.S. hotels doesn't get to Gotham until the list hits No. 37.

And as for the best cities category, NYC ranks only 8th in the world - down from No. 6 last year.

The New York hotels on the list:

10. The Point, Saranac Lake, New York
37. Ritz-Carlton, Central Park, New York City
63. Trump International Hotel & Tower, New York City
66. St. Regis Hotel, New York City
75. Lowell Hotel, New York City
81. Mandarin Oriental, New York City
83. Four Seasons Hotel, New York City
98. Lake Placid Lodge, New York

But at least New York City takes home the top slot on the "15 to watch" hotels list:

Carlton on Madison Avenue, New York City

This 1904 Beaux-Arts hotel was recently restored by David Rockwell, who uncovered a 30-foot Tiffany-style glass dome and original terrazzo floors.
