Gansevoort's hotel pool perk: reserved deck chairs
Although more than a dozen New York City hotels now have swimming pools, the Hotel Gansevoort offers some of the best snob appeal.
Not only is it situated on a rooftop above the trendy Meatpacking District, but “Who Needs the Hamptons?!” hotel package will get you a pair of reserved lounge chairs at pool, (weekdays only,) and two free cocktails at the rooftop lounge.
The package costs $570 nightly for a deluxe room or $830 for a suite, and a two-night minimum is required. It also comes with a 60-minute massage or facial for two people, a bottle of Moet & Chandon, the Continental breakfast buffet for two in the hotel's ONO restaurant, lunch at the Plunge Bar or Rooftop Garden. You'll also get a Hotel Gansevoort Sun-Rx Bag, with sunscreen, lip balm, a hat, magazines and Evian water and misters.
A number of other city hotels have pools, although most are indoor, some are lap pools only and some are part of the hotel's spa or gym. Some are open to non-guests who buy a day pass.
