Scaled-back WTC Museum plans keep waterfalls
In reaction to criticism that costs had skyrocketed, the latest plans for the World Trade Center memorial have been pared down, allowing architects to also move the victims' name above ground in line with some family members' wishes.
The new $510 million plan would eliminate six galleries in the museum but preserve the waterfalls surrounding the empty footprints of the WTC north and south towers.
In theory, construction could start in July, just two months before the five-year anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001.
