Gourmet dining with the city's best sidewalk vendors
Pushcart NYC, the blog about the food offerings from New York's street vendors, has slowly been making the rounds to many of last year's Vendy nominated carts, sampling everything from a cannonball-sized falafel sandwich to spiced chicken served with clove-flavored gherkins.
In Astoria, home to some great food carts, the apparent "king of the kabob" can be found on 32nd Street and Broadway. From the Pushcart review:
The kebabs are cooked over natural charcoal and are beautifully tender and juicy. Ask for everything on it, and they'll give you barbeque sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice, and oregano. The meat is so perfect though, any way you have them they'd be great. Pushcart NYC is indexing the carts by neighborhood and each entry provides prices and operating hours and offers advice on what to order and what to avoid. Occasionally thre's even advice on where to find a nearby park to devour your bounty.
