Gramercy Park Hotel: plenty of private park keys

gramercypark.bmpWhen guests start checking into the Gramercy Park Hotel come August 8, all guests will indeed have "access" to a key to the private park across the street and they won't need a hotel chaperone to get there and back.

That's the latest word from a hotel spokeswoman who today said there will be plenty of keys available to check out through the hotel's conceirge; no waiting list wil be needed because they expect to have enough keys to keep everyone happy all the time.

No word on the actual number of keys the 185-room hotel will get, surely an interesting number considering how hard they are to obtain from the Gramercy Park Trust. Normally you have to own some of the expensive real estate facing the exclusive park to get in.

Ian Schrager's Gramercy Park Hotel is located at 2 Lexington Ave., map. Reservations are now being accepted online, staring at an introductory rate of $250 a night through September 4.
