A Ritz-Carlton suite with personalized fireworks show

gruccifireworks.jpgIf you like thinking about all the ways you can spend your money on the world's most decadent hotel packages, the Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park has something just for you. How about your own personalized fireworks show put together by the same team that does the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular?

The hotel's Can't Buy Me Love ... But You Can Try one-night package starts at $40,000 and comes with a special fireworks show, a private butler for your 2,000-square-foot presidential suite, a helicopter ride and other essentials such as Dom Perignon and fresh strawberries.

Only one person has purchased the package since it's been on offer, according to Venice Lacy-Anderson, the hotel's director of guest relations. The gentleman bought it as a surprise for his wife and a few friends he invited to the suite for the show. The fireworks show, which lasts about 10 minutes, includes bursting hearts and is timed to music. When the butler queued the music, the man made a little speech, and a well-timed toast midway that made clear he was behind the show and it wasn't mere coincidence there were fireworks on the harbor with the Statue of Liberty as the backdrop. "People were moved to tears in the bunch. His wife cried," Lacy-Anderson said.

Although they've only had one buyer, a few other people have called to ask about it. "It's definitely a special, over-the-top" package, she said.
