The Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s annual Sakura Matsuri cherry blossom festival is set for April 29 and 30, but a handful of the trees have already reached peak bloom.

Different varieties of cherry blossoms are planted around the gardens, with the ones around the Japanese Garden blooming now with only the merest of pink and red buds emerging on the grand cherry esplanade.

bbg.whitecherryblossoms.JPGAlthough the majority of the trees aren’t blossoming, the gardens were crowded yesterday due in no small part to the perfect spring weather.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is located just behind the Brooklyn Museum. The main address: 1000 Washington Ave, map.
