Schreiber cast in Shakespeare in the Park's 'Macbeth'

Liev Schreiber will play Macbeth this summer at Shakespeare in the Park from June 13 to July 7, followed later in the summer by Meryl Streep in Bertolt Brecht's "Mother Courage," Playbill reports.

Schreiber, who recently appeared in "Glengarry Glen Ross" on Broadway, has starred in Public Theater productions, including "Hamlet," "Othello," "Cymbeline" and "Henry V." His is the only role cast so far for "Macbeth," according to Playbill.

Tickets to the performances, as always, will be free but are handed out the day of the performance to people able to stand in long lines in hopes of getting a pair before they're gone. However, the Public will again offer a limited number of "summer sponsorships" that allow anyone making a $100 donation to the theater to get a reserved seat at one of the free summer performances -- without standing in line.

Since 1962, The Public Theater has been staging Shakespeare in the Park at Central Park's Delacorte Theater since 1962.
