New York hotel packages for Washington's VIPs
When traveling, just like a rock star, Vice President Dick Cheney has his own list of needs that his hotel must attend to, according to The Smoking Gun, which obtained a copy of his "downtime requirements."
His hotel room's TV must be preset to FOX, decaf coffee must be pre-brewed and four cans of diet caffeine-free Sprite must be there as well.
Not that the White House sends its people to New York very often, but there are a few hotel deals they might want to check into.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would surely be interested in the Shoes, Shoes, Shoes package at the Ritz-Carlton Central Park.
Rice, whose last shoe shopping spree in New York coincided with the first days of the Hurricane Katrina chaos, would surely appreciate the Ritz-Carlton’s $2,605 per night package that comes with a day of shopping with Kathleen Beckett of Beckett's Black Book.
Leave it to the Donald to one-up the vice president. The Trump International Hotel & Tower executive business package includes a free pressing of one suit, a shoe shine, custom stationary and business cards, and a power breakfast for two at Nougatine restaurant. All that for a mere $875.
The W hotel chain may not be right for W himself, but they are offering a Pride 365 package. It comes with a best of "Queer Eye" DVD, Fab Fivetini cocktails and the "Queer Eye Hip Tips" guide. "Who’s in the mood for some Carson, Kyan, Ted, Jai, and Thom?"
For the president who's really just a kid at heart, there's the Mandarin Oriental's FAO Schwarz Birthday of a Lifetime Package. The $30,000 package comes with lessons on the toy stores Dance-on piano, rides in the 3-D motion simulator, goody bags and some quality time in the FAO Schwarz Ice Cream parlor.
Millenium Hilton has a Discover Downtown package that might be appropriate, considering the Republican National Convention actually hurt downtown tourism as it was still trying to recover from September 11. The Millenium is right across the street from Ground Zero, making it easy to look back to the time the president climbed atop the rubble, pulled out a bullhorn and saw his leadership ratings soar. The Discover Downtown package even includes gift cards to Century 21 and J&R Music World since discount shopping might be in the cards for anyone with a $9 trillion debt.
And if it ever seems appropriate, there's also a Il Dolce Far Niente (Sweetness of Doing Nothing) package at the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers.
