Most popular museum show in NYC '05: van Gogh

The van Gogh exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cezanne and Pissarro show at the Museum of Modern Art were the most popular museum exhibits in New York and rank among the world's most popular museum shows of 2005 (in pdf format) according to data compiled by The Art Newspaper.

"Vincent van Gogh: The Drawings" drew 6,571 people a day, a total of 459,972; "Pioneering Modern Painting: Cezanne and Pissarro 1865-85" hosted 6,387 daily, or 433,397 total. The Art Newspaper list is ranked by average daily attendance and only covers shows that ended in 2005. More than a quarter of the top 100 were in New York City:
