US Helicopter delays JFK shuttle start to March 27

US Helicopter has pushed back to March 27 its start date for regular helicopter shuttle service to JFK Airport, a company spokesperson told NewYorkology today.

The service, originally scheduled to begin March 13, promises to deliver passengers to or from the airport in eight minutes for an introductory $139 one-way fare, plus taxes and security fees.

The company's web site will go live tomorrow to accept bookings.

Its Wall Street heliport will include federal security screeners, meaning that passengers bound for flights on American Airlines, where the helicopters will land, will be able to bypass the security and check-in lines at JFK.

And despite news that U.S. Department of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff warned of potential cuts to airline security, US Helicopter does not see it impacting their business.
