High culture on the cheap
Even the tourists from Peoria know a few "secrets" about getting Broadway tickets at a discount, but the Post points to several lesser-known offers on cultural bargains in New York City.
The New York City Opera, which normally sells its orchestra seats for more than $100, sets aside some for only $16. They sell out fast, but you can call the box office at (212) 870-5570 to find out when the next batch is available.
City Opera also does a "Big Deal" that allows anyone between the ages 21 to 35 to pay a $50 enrollment fee and then buy tickets to as many operas as they like for $30 each.
The magic age group at Carnegie Hall is also between 21 and 35, according to the Post. Carnegie's Club 57th and 7th, lets "young professionals" buy tickets to three concerts for as little as $65, total.
The Metropolitan Opera offers singles a Meet Me at the Met package for $95, which includes a ticket, pre-curtain cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and a private champagne toast on the Grand Tier during intermission.
