NYC's best new hotels are co-tels - even Hard Rock
Of all the world's great new hotels for 2006, a handful happen to be in New York City, so says the luxury travel mavens of the New York Times.
The story starts with a nod nearly next door to the Times building itself: the Paramount Hotel in Times Square, which is renovating and rebranding this year as a Hard Rock Hotel on Times Square.
The web site for the new Hard Rock Times Square also has a little link at the bottom indicating they're now going to co-tel route. Clicking the link opens up on e-mail and fills in the subject line with "Hard Rock Condo Sales Information Request."
Of the three remaining New York hotels mentioned by the Times, two are also condo hotels: Ian Schrager's 186-room Gramercy Park Hotel set to open in May, and the Thompson Lower East Side, set to open next year.
The only other NYC to make the international hot list was Thompson Hotels' 6 Columbus at Columbus Circle, which plans to officially open this summer, according to the hotel's not-so-reliable web site.
